This camera is equipped with a 1/2.3-inch back-illuminated CMOS sensor with 18.2 effective megapixels and the "BIONZ" image processing engine. The BIONZ image processing engine allows you to capture your memories in beautiful detail. The camera's optical zoom function allows you to get closer to the subject without image degradation. It has a 10x optical zoom range from 25mm to 250mm (35mm film format equivalent), enabling you to take beautiful pictures of distant subjects that you may have given up on with smartphones.
The camera can be attached to smartphones, specifically the Xperia Z, with a dedicated attachment case (SPA-ACX1) (sold separately) for a more stylish attachment style. Any smartphone within the compatible size range (width 54-75mm, thickness within 13mm) can be attached using the included spring-loaded attachment. However, it is not recommended for use with a smartphone with a case or cover attached.
The camera can be easily connected to smartphones via Wi-Fi. For NFC-equipped smartphones, a one-touch connection is available. The Wi-Fi connection also allows for additional features and functionality.
