Linda Linda Linda (DVD)
Product Description
This DVD edition of the Japanese coming-of-age band movie “Linda Linda Linda” follows a high school girl band racing to save their final cultural festival performance. When two members suddenly drop out three days before the show, the remaining trio switch to covering iconic punk band The Blue Hearts and recruit a Korean exchange student, Song (played by Bae Doona), as their new vocalist. Their desperate, meandering rehearsals capture the rush, awkwardness, and exhilaration of late-teen life.
Directed by Nobuhiro Yamashita with a screenplay by Kousuke Mukai, Masako Miyashita, and Yamashita, the film stars Bae Doona, Aki Maeda, Yu Kashii, and Shiori Sekine (Base Ball Bear). The soundtrack features The Blue Hearts’ classic “Owaranai Uta” and original score by James Iha, whose melodic, driving music underpins the girls’ emotional journey. Warm humor, understated drama, and raw live-performance sequences make this a standout 21st-century youth band movie that resonates far beyond Japan.
This release includes the 114-minute main feature plus approximately 54 minutes of bonus video content such as cast and director interviews, making-of footage, special live performances by the in-film band Parann Maum, a James Iha “Stratosphere Sound in N.Y.” segment, stage greeting footage from advance screenings, trailers, and an audio commentary by director Nobuhiro Yamashita and screenwriter Kousuke Mukai. An ideal choice for international viewers who love music-driven stories, ensemble casts, and nostalgic high school dramas.
